Roofing in Northeast Heights: What Makes It Different

Northeast Heights covers a wide mix of roofing, from older shingle roofs near Uptown and Winrock to newer tile and concrete tile roofs further east toward the foothills. Its proximity to the Sandia Mountains means storm cells that form over the mountains often hit this area first and hardest, which is why we see a higher rate of hail related service calls here than almost anywhere else in the city.

Homes near Tramway and the foothills also deal with higher wind exposure as storms funnel down through the canyons. We check for wind uplift on shingle roofs and cracked or slipped tiles on tile roofs as standard parts of every inspection in this area, not an upsell.

Roofing in the Northeast Heights

The Northeast Heights rises from about 5,300 ft near the city core to over 6,100 ft at the Sandia foothills, one of Albuquerque’s largest and most established residential quadrants.

That elevation gain means Northeast Heights roofs deal with stronger UV exposure, bigger day-to-night temperature swings, and harder monsoon downpours than the valley below — all of which speed up wear on shingles and flashing.

We’ve worked across the neighborhood for years, from the older sections near Uptown to the newer construction toward Tramway Blvd, and we know what actually holds up at this elevation.
